Paul Prieur et Fils, Sancerre, 2017

 

  • Winemakers: Luc (son) and Didier Prieur (father).
  • For 11 generations, the Prieur family have  been wine-growers in the village of Verdigny, Sancerre.
  • Luc joined the team in 2010.
  • Sourced from 13.5 hectares of SB grapes grown on parcels of south-facing, sloping vineyards.
  • Soils are composed of both caillottes and terres blanches. Caillottes are thin and stony pure limestone soils that contribute the bouquet, vivid fruits, and minerality. The Terres Blanches soils are a mix of limestone and clay and provide body and structure with great ripeness.
  • 40% of the grapes come from Silex soils in Thauvenay and provides the flinty, smoky aroma.
  • 40% Caillottes, 40% Silex, and 20% Terres Blanches.
  • Aged for 8-10 months in 95% stainless steel and 5% neutral 228L barrels.
  • 80,000 bottle production.
